All Moved in! Hooray!

We found somewhere to live finally! Hooray! We had been at my parents place while we tried to buy our dream fixer-upper. We put an offer in months ago and have been waiting not so patiently ever since. The house was a short sale, but it'd been on the market since December and the property had already been assigned a negotiator, so we were told we could close fairly quickly. We tried to stick it out because we were frequently told it would be just a little bit longer. At one point we were even told our offer had been accepted and we arranged our financing and set up inspections, but turned out the listing agent had been "mistaken" ... I don't know how you are mistaken on something like that, especially when she told us that our offer acceptance was contingent upon us closing by a certain date. Humph... oh well! Many empty promises later, we threw in the towel and found a rental. We realize now that it was such a blessing we didn't get the house. We are happy not having the responsibility of homeownership right now. Our rental is a great 3 bedroom house with a lot of character in San Leandro. Price is right and the location is great (walking distance to the Bart train). It's also just a 6 minute walk to my dad's work, so he gets to come for lunch on a regular basis. And its just 10 minutes from my parents place. I'm getting used to the gargoyles perched above my driveway... at first they really bothered me, but now I feel like they guard our little fortress (... and I think they might be the reason we are getting such a good price... so I thank them..haha). I'll post pics of our little gargoyle friends shortly. We've been crazy busy getting moved in and having John start work. John started last week in the corporate department of the San Francisco law firm Orrick, Herrington, and Sutcliffe. So far so good. There are a few other LDS attorneys there who are showing him the ropes which is nice.
