I have to give a goodbye to my tr
usty 1984 Volvo, affectionately named Alice. I bought her when I was a senior in high school for $800 and she's been there for me ever since. She drove between California and Utah several times during my college years and she even made it from California to New Jersey! Alice never needed any major repair work. However, the last 3 years in the NYC area have been hard on her. Between the muffler that was held up by a hanger, the cardboard window that we had for 2 years after a break in, the hole where our stolen CD player was, the broken taillights from a truck backing up into her, the front bumper that's off kilter from a taxi, the windshield wipers that struggle, and not to mention the top of the stick shift that comes off. Needless to say, Alice was not up to accompanying us on our move to California. Junk-Cars-R-Us paid us $175, and towed her away, but not before I kept the bulb off the top of the stick shift and ripped the Volvo logo off the front grille. I'm going to make a memorial for Alice :) I miss her!

I am laughing so hard I'm crying over your description of poor Alice by the end. And I had no idea the Jersey Juke had a name. I was able to mentally use it when a bus driver pulled this maneuver right in front of me today (I'm trying to control my "road rage" so Kaia will stop saying things like "whoopsie crappy"). =)
Lisa and John!
I found you on Shelli's blog and I have to admit I've been wondering what you guys have been up to! Your little girl is beautiful and it's so wonderful that John's finally done with school! It looks like you're doing so well, and I'm so happy for you!
love, camilla
so now who is going to replace poor Alice?
