Welcome Norah Katherine Potter

Norah (just because we liked it and liked that it isn't all that common but people know how to say it and spell it)
Katherine (after John's mom)
Potter

Norah Katherine Potter was born September 25 at 1:05p via c-section... and thank goodness she was a c-section because she is HUGE! Really... 11 lbs 3oz.... who would have thought?? So I really wanted to have a VBAC and deliver naturally, but I waited and waited and this little one didn't want to come. Due date came and went.... and my doctor thought that I should have a c-section if I was 9 days overdue, but heading into the hospital I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I really wanted a natural birth. The few days prior to my scheduled c-section I was having a huge debate with myself whether to call my doctor and ask to hold off a couple more days so we could wait a little longer and see if I could do a VBAC. But I decided to just pray that if this baby was to come naturally, that she come before my scheduled surgery on the 25th. When she didn't, we headed to the hospital. While I was getting prepped for surgery, my doctor came in to talk to me and I mentioned how I really wanted a VBAC and he said, "Well we could push it back a few days" but I was there with an IV in me minutes from surgery, I don't think it was a serious offer, but it made be feel even more discontent with having a c-section because I really could have pushed it back. So going into surgery I was having regrets... but then when I heard the doctors exclamations of surprise at how large Norah is when they first saw her... I knew this had all happened the way it was supposed to. I was extremely blessed to not have gone into labor. There is NO WAY I could have delivered an 11 lb baby naturally... no way. I have been extremely blessed. Norah came out 11 lbs 3 oz and was the talk of the hospital. Nurses sought her out so they could see her and then ask if she really came out of me. She is the sweetest little baby and we love her dearly already. I was in the hospital for a couple days and my recovery has been going very well. John is on paternity leave for 3 weeks so its fantastic having him home and we've had lots of help and support from family and friends. Thank you all!

Heading into Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley... I got to deliver in the same hospital where I was born.

These pics aren't the best... we'll have some more shortly.

1 cm!

I went to the doctor today and he said I'm dilated 1 cm. I guess that's progress right?.... so we'll see when this baby decides to present herself..... In the meantime here's a picture of my swollen right foot for my sisters' enjoyment... It's complete with a weird indentation and everything. I never got swollen with Mia, so this is something that's new to me, but its only my right foot. Weird.

Still Here!

No baby yet! And no I'm NOT having twins like someone asked me yesterday! I may be big, but I'm not THAT big... sheesh. But its good the baby hasn't come yet because Mia started preschool on Monday and its good she's having some time to adjust to it before the baby comes. I found a great preschool run through our city's park & rec department... MWF, 9a-11a for $100 a month. Teachers are great, facilities are great.. and Mia likes it. She stayed all by herself today and I couldn't help but cry as I left...such a big girl. The pic below is from her first day. But now that Mia's adjusted to preschool....... let's get this baby out! John is going to take 2-3 weeks paternity leave so they haven't staffed him on any deals at work... so he and I both are just anxiously waiting..... the 25th at the latest.....

My Scarecrow

We read a book that talked of scarecrows, so Mia decided she likes to be one every once in a while...
