Anytime Now....

Here I am two weeks out from my due date.... so I could go at anytime. After lots of thought and prayer and reading and classes and talking to friends who've had VBAC's we've decided to go for it. (For those unfamiliar with VBAC's its when you try to have a nonsurgical birth even though you've had a c-section previously...VBAC's carry special risks since it puts so much strain on the scar from the c-section... but they have great advantages as well). The hospital I'm delivering at in Berkeley has an 80% success rate in VBAC's which is encouraging and they are the high risk hosptial of the Bay Area, so I'll be in good hands. I'm just nervous about this whole labor thing... I've never felt a contraction before (Mia was breech so that's why we had the c-section)... so we'll see how it all goes :) But my doctor has scheuled a c-section for September 25 in case I haven't had our little one yet (since those having VBAC's can't be induced...). So that's the latest... we'll have a baby by the 25th at the latest. Although John jokes about how I should just do a c-section because of an expereince he had this past week.... It was quite the scare actually. John passed a kidney stone this week and that's considered to be the closest pain to child birth as it gets. So he has a whole new admiration for mothers. Thankfully he only had 45 minutes worth of pain and he's ok now... but boy was it scary!

You look so stinking cute! I wish I could come and be with you! You will be amazing!! Do you remember that I passed a kidney stone while I was pregnant with Hazel. Yikes, that was awful! Tell John to be careful and take care of himself. Love you guys!

I'm excited you're trying a V-Bac. I had three V-Bacs after Emma was a C-section. I thought I had a great recovery after Emma, BUT then after Caleb was born V-Bac I practically jumped off the table afterwards - I felt great!

I'll be thinking about you and hoping everything goes well! You'll do great!

You are going to be awesome!! My mother-in-law had to pass a kidney stone fairly recently, and she said it was the worst pain of her life - worse than any of her 4 natural births. So maybe John really had it worse than you will. :) Although 45 minutes would be an amazingly fast birth.

Good luck with everything! I didn't go into labor until I had Maddie, and by the time I realized it and went to the hospital I was already a 6! I had a lot of back pain instead of "contractions"...just remember that if pain is coming in regular intervals, that's labor! :)

Good for you Lisa! You can do it. I've never had a c-section so I have no idea what the recovery is like, but I'm fine in a few days after normal labor and that's even without any epidural...so just remember that you can do it!!! I've heard that kidney stones are pretty bad...tell John good job on his fast labor ;)

You look awesome, Lisa. Quite the party going on in there I imagine. Of my seven births, each one was a very special, spiritual experience.
There is nothing quite like it; nothing quite as noble; nothing so sacred.
We love you so much!

You are so cute! I wish you the best in delivery! I'm glad you are getting to do a VBAC. I'll pray you start having contractions!
