Norah (just because we liked it and liked that it isn't all that common but people know how to say it and spell it)
Katherine (after John's mom)
Potter
Norah Katherine Potter was born September 25 at 1:05p via c-section... and thank goodness she was a c-section because she is HUGE! Really... 11 lbs 3oz.... who would have thought?? So I really wanted to have a VBAC and deliver naturally, but I waited and waited and this little one didn't want to come. Due date came and went.... and my doctor thought that I should have a c-section if I was 9 days overdue, but heading into the hospital I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I really wanted a natural birth. The few days prior to my scheduled c-section I was having a huge debate with myself whether to call my doctor and ask to hold off a couple more days so we could wait a little longer and see if I could do a VBAC. But I decided to just pray that if this baby was to come naturally, that she come before my scheduled surgery on the 25th. When she didn't, we headed to the hospital. While I was getting prepped for surgery, my doctor came in to talk to me and I mentioned how I really wanted a VBAC and he said, "Well we could push it back a few days" but I was there with an IV in me minutes from surgery, I don't think it was a serious offer, but it made be feel even more discontent with having a c-section because I really could have pushed it back. So going into surgery I was having regrets... but then when I heard the doctors exclamations of surprise at how large Norah is when they first saw her... I knew this had all happened the way it was supposed to. I was extremely blessed to not have gone into labor. There is NO WAY I could have delivered an 11 lb baby naturally... no way. I have been extremely blessed. Norah came out 11 lbs 3 oz and was the talk of the hospital. Nurses sought her out so they could see her and then ask if she really came out of me. She is the sweetest little baby and we love her dearly already. I was in the hospital for a couple days and my recovery has been going very well. John is on paternity leave for 3 weeks so its fantastic having him home and we've had lots of help and support from family and friends. Thank you all!
Heading into Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley... I got to deliver in the same hospital where I was born.
These pics aren't the best... we'll have some more shortly.

Lisa, I couldn't believe it when I read your baby was 11 pounds!!! How in the world did such a little girl like you have such a big baby?! :) She's so cute...and I love the name Norah.
She is so ginormous and adorable! I think your story was perfect. I've been waiting to hear it! The Lord knows doesn't he? Don't ever be disappointed. The best thing you could have done was prepare, pray, and the see what happened and that's what you did.
I didn't know you were born at Alta Bates! That's so cool that you got to have darling Norah there. I'm so glad I got to meet your precious angel in person. She is such a cutie! BTW - You look MUCH more composed entering Alta Bates than I did when I went there to deliver Ashilene.;)
Norah is such a cute name! I'm sorry you had to have c-section but glad everyone is healthy!
I read your first post a couple of days ago and I've been meaning to get back to comment, but I haven't had the chance until now. I was SHOCKED to know she was over 11 lbs - amazing! She is so adorable - I love the look on her face in that first picture. I can understand your feelings of regret before the C-section, but I love how Heavenly Father knows the best thing for us. I can't even fathom pushing out a baby of that size! I'm so glad both you and she are healthy.
Congratulations Potters! She is absolutely adorable and I love all the dark hair. But over 11 lbs, that is crazy! So glad everything went well for Lisa and that Norah is doing well.
You hide an extra 11 lbs very well. :) I love her chubby cheeks, even as a newborn! BTW, Madeline is 5 months and is barely over 11 pounds. She eats constantly too!
I think she is adorable...and I marvel that she came out of you also, you are so small. I think she looks like Mia. I don't remember, did Mia have dark hair when she was born? And I love the name, definetely not common, but sweet and simple. :)
Darling! and congrats. Wow, you've been carrying around 11+ lbs? I'm glad that she is so healthy, and she looks perfect.
Wow!! So glad everything went well---congratulations to all of you!! She's beautiful...
The adventure begins. . . Twice the work; twice the fun; twice the blessings.
We can't wait to see you all!
Hope the stretch marks aren't too bad, and that the recovery is going well.
We pray for you all daily.
Love you so much!

WOW LISA! I can't believe she was over 11 lbs! Even bigger than my son at just under 10 lbs! Honestly, I am so glad you didn't try to birth a baby THAT BIG. I had a crazy time with mine and ended up getting a c-section in the end anyway. It would have been a huge bummer for you to wait even longer and struggle to birth her, only to have her come out via c-section anyway. I think you totally made the right choice. And in the end all that matters is that they get here! Congratulations!
Congratulations!! I love the name you picked. I am glad that everything worked out. I guess she was just really happy in there.
Congratulations Potters!! You have a beautiful family!
Love, Alison Packer
