Cupcake Cones!

For a birthday party I made ice cream cone cupcakes. I'd never seen them before, but found the recipe on cake mix box and thought I'd give it a try. I thought they turned out cute... so here's the recipe in case anyone else wants to try :)

Heat oven to 350* (325* for dark or nonstick pan).
Place paper baking cups in 24 regular size muffin cups

Make 1 box of cake mix according to directions.
Fill each cup two-thirds full of batter.
Place ice cream cone upside down on batter in each cup (the cones stay upright better if there is less batter... so don't overfill :)

Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean.
Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
Remove paper baking cups and frost (I found I needed lots of thick frosting to help make the cake look rounded).

Awww, what a good idea. I'd made them before but actually placed the cake batter in the cone and then baked it and always had a flat top. Oooooh, I really like your way better and then it truly looks like an icecream cone. They turned out great! Thanx for the recipe Lisa.

Cool! Great idea! I can't wait to try it for the kids Dave and I home-teach. A birthday is coming up.
