My mom and dad were set apart on Wednesday to preside over the Berlin Germany Mission. President Uchtdorff set my dad apart and Elder Rasband set apart my mom.
This is the crew who got to attend the setting aparts, my mom's parents, my dad's mom, my sister Megan and my brother Mike. All said it was one of the most amazing experiences they've ever had.
So my parents have been in the MTC with 100 other mission presidents the past couple days. Today they had a special sacrament meeting where President Monson spoke and the first presidency attended. As did all but one of the Quorum of the Twelve, 7 Presidents of the 70, the Presiding Bishopric, and many of the 70. Missionaries passed them the sacrament and it has again one of the those fantastic experiences that I think is just the beginning for them. I look forward to hearing more once they get to Germany tomorrow. I've been going through withdrawals having them leave... especially after they stayed with us for the last 3 1/2 weeks... the house seems a bit empty. But I know that they were called of God to serve and they will do a fantastic job.

What a great experience! I think one of the most amazing things of having family (parents or siblings) out on missions are the experiences they share with the rest of the family.
Wow! I wish I could have been there at that setting apart. I'm sure it was amazing. I didn't realize President Uchtdorf is so tall.
Wow, what an amazing experience!
Hey, your grandparents look exactly the same as I last saw them how many years ago?
So let me know when you want to play!
What a neat experience. We'll miss them here in our Stake but Germany is lucky to have them! What a blessing for your family.
Wow, that's so awesome! I wonder if he will be my cousin's new mission pres. she was called in the berlin mission too. i'll ask her if her miss. pres. is getting released!
oh ya, i didn't realize that President Uchtdorff was such a big guy. it reminds me of what Nephi said, "...being exceedingly young, nevertheless being large in stature..." 1 nephi 2:16
hahah! he's so cool!
Thanks for sharing. I didn't realize they were on their way so soon. Hope all is well with you!

Wow, what an experience already! Though I know you must be missing them a LOT.
Yea for the pictures. Thanks Lisa. Thanks for being such a great example. Thanks for sharing them with the missionaries and the people of Germany. We all enjoyed Sunday at your house. Thanks for everything!! In case I forget Happy Birthday tomorrow!!
Wow, what a great experience for them. Do either of them speak German? I noticed your dad's name in the last Ensign with the list of all the new mission presidents.
