We've loved having John home the last 3 weeks and sadly he has to return to work tomorrow. Luckily I have family coming to help with my first week without him, so that'll be great... and then I guess comes the inevitable, I'll have to learn how to care for 2 kids on my own. (If you have any tips... I'd love to hear them!!!) Mia is a big help... she likes to get me diapers and pull out the wipes. Mia's not a fan of the crying though... whenever Norah cries Mia yells, "Mooom! Feed her!"
This was Norah's first time wearing a dress. She wore it to sacrament meeting today which was my first time juggling 2 kids by myself at church (John has recently been put into our bishopric, so I'll be flying solo during sacrament). How does anyone get to church on time with mulitple kids and no husband?
I think Norah's cheeks weigh a pound each! She definitely fills out 3 month clothes and its quite the workout rocking her to sleep. We sure love her!

You just don't get to church on time. Sorry. Bishopric! Yikes! Good luck. The Lord will bless you but you know that!
She is so cute!!! Wow, that 3 weeks went fast. My only advice for handling more than one child at home by yourself is don't try and go anywhere before you are ready. Things around the house can wait until dad gets home, or just take them at your own pace. Just feed, sleep and play with Mia, that's all that really matters. As far as church goes...I think just getting there is an accomplishment when husbands are in the bishopric. You won't feel like you get much out of it for a while since having to leave sacrament is inevitable. But you will be blessed for John's service...I know we were.
what I used to do was simply plan on changing my clothes again just before church. Inevitably I would have a diaper explosion, or spit up all over me just before heading out the door!
Sometime I would just smile, and wear the "white badge of motherhood" on my shoulder like a broche.
Fun times!
We've been in the same boat for awhile and we've gotten into a pretty good pattern . . . we even pick someone else up for church too :) I guess my advice would be to get yourself ready first - whether that means you wear an apron the rest of the morning or not. Then you take care of the little ones. Always plan on being to church 15 minutes early so you can usually be walking in the door right on time.
Chris gave a talk this week on the importance of Sacrament meeting and it really struck a chord with me - he asked do we place as much importance on our weekly appointment with Christ to renew our covenants with him as we do with a work or doctor appointment? It really made me think and helped me want to do better.
Good luck! I know it's hard, but you will always have your ward family around to help you. I was so happy to see how our branch just stepped up when we needed help with our kids as they sat by themselves a lot of the time with Chris on the stand and me at the organ.
Those cheeks are the greatest! You will be just fine with two, especially with a mellow baby. So my only advice is to add 20 minutes to however long it takes you to get where you need to go. The extra 20 minutes is for loading/unloading 2 kids in the car! :)
I imagine it'll be an adjustment for John to be back at work, as well. How nice to have that little break together! Peter only had a few days off, but I can't complain because I've had my mom's help and then I'll be having my mother-in-law's help for a bit.
I second the advice to plan to be to church 15 minutes early, although it hasn't yet cured me from walking in late every week. :) I'm working on it...and I haven't even tried going back to church yet with 3 kids.
